I was so sad when I found out that there wasn't going to be a Creative IT List last year. It has always been a dream of mine and I thought that dream would never come true, so I was so glad when I found out I was going to be on the list, and of course glad that the list is back!!!! So honored to be included in the same list with some amazing people (Olivia D'Aboville, Tammy David, Dan Matutina, Sam Kiyoumarsi, etc)

Huge thanks to Kissa Castaneda, Erwin Romulo, and of course Anna Canlas for the write-up! You know me too well. Haha.

When you're trying to book BJ Pascual for a shoot, you might want to make some allowances for the time difference. If he's not in Manila, he's in New York (guerilla site for BJ's pioneering "playttime" shoots with model pal Ana Sicdeco, see also: training ground, hoe to Parsons, F.I.T., and the International Center for Photography--all institutions of the fashion photographer's expert instruction). If he's not in New York, he's in Hong Kong... his cosmic home, Korea... and any one of several regional locatitons. Or, lying face-down, in his regulation T by A.Wang wifebeaters, in what might just be one of the most fully booked calendars of editorial shoots around the conutry. Look at a photo with quiet intensity--with studied yet at-once organic lighting--and instantly, you're moved to ID it as a BJ Pascual photo. Prograssive and fashion-crazy, BJ's got his own ideas about local fashion photography. Which is why we hae him on speed dia, if only he could pick up faster...

Preview's October 2011 issue is very special to me. Two of my long-time dreams came true. First, because it's my frist PREVIEW cover. I has been my dream, from the first time I bought a copy of the magazine, to do a cover for them. It has been one of my biggest goals as a photographer ever since. The second dream, another long-time dream, is that they included me in 2011's Creative It List(!!!) It also contains one of my favorite editorials, with my favorite girls (click here to see UNCUT VERSION)! BIG BIG THANKS TO THE PREVIEW TEAM!

It's a great coincidence that that first issue of Preview that I ever bought, June 2005 (featuring "Television's Brightest Young Stars' with Anne Curtis, Bea Alonzo, Iza Calzado back when they were starting out), would be the same as my first for the magazine!!! This time with the new batch of young stars and one of them is Anne's younger sister, Jasmine Curtis-Smith. To top it off they were wearing one of my favorite Louis Vuitton collections, flown in for the shoot. I was very emotional (I know, gross haha, but seriously I really was) when I found out I was doing this. I really couldn't believe it. To me, it's like coming full circle. Mayganon??

The cover was NOT originally a double cover, it was supposed to be one continuous gatefold cover, but at the last minute, they had to shuffle the blocking cause there was a miscommunication with the Advertising Department (they thought it was a double cover so they sold two ads). In fact, the gatefold cover was already laid-out with cover blurbs and all, ready for printing, before they found out about the Advertising Department-miscommunication. I have a copy of the original one, and I would really really LOVE to post it, but I can't (yes, I tried asking permission for this blog), so we have to respect the corporate rules :)

X (PREVIEW October 2011) - UNCUT VERSION

Where do I begin with this editorial? This one, we waited SO LONG to get published. Preview's editorial line-up was so full that we waited four long months (usually it takes 2, at most 3, months) for this to come out. Shot June 9, and it came out October. But I think the wait was worth it. This October issue is a very special one for me, you'll find out in tomorrow's post!

What I love most about this editorial is the casting. Stylist (THE ONE) Patrick Galang and I combined our favorite Filipina models: Ria Bolivar, Pauline Prieto, Marita Ganse, Manuela Basilio, and Krystal Espiritu. They are not what most Filipinos consider conventionally "pretty", most might even consider unusual-looking, but they are, as much as I hate the term, the fiercest of the current crop of Filipina models.

In terms of setting, it's actually one of the simplest editorials I've ever done, but the one which has received so much feedback. Rogue Magazine's Raymond Ang called it "the epic models editorial", which i think perfectly sums up each of these girls: Epic.

Oh, and this editorial also contains the first boob exposure in Preview in over a decade! Go Krystal!!!

Shamcey Supusp, The New Queen (METRO November 2010 Cover, Editorial + BTS)

A very memorable shoot! The security was BANANAS, there were about 20 police officers in 5 police cars, and another vehicle with members of the SWAT Team (really!) all courtesy of Manila's Office of the Mayor! None of us (even the Metro team) expected that much security! We were outnumbered! Haha!

Michealle Torres, Metro's amazing EIC, had this idea that since our covergirl Shamcey is a licensed Architect (she topped the 2011 Board Exams!) she wanted her in front of Old Manila's grandest architecture. So we shot in three different locations (four supposedly, but we had problems with the Manila Cathedral permit), Fort Bonifacio in Intramuros, Department of Tourism building, and Casa Manila's courtyard! Two locations for a one-day shoot is already unusual for shoots here, but three seemed crazy! Talk about logistics! The sun was so intense, but Shamcey was a trooper! In the end, everything turned out great! I LOVE how everything turned out!

I love the mix of old and new in Berlin, I think they did a great job of preserving the past and incorporating the present in various places around the city. Although I only spent two nights in Berlin, with only one full day to explore, I fell in love. I will be back!

After Five Months...

I'm back! Thanks in part to my sore eyes, that I had to cancel shoots this week. It's ok, though, since I can rest a bit :) Anyway, I probably got it from a model, who got it from a make-up artist's brush. Several top models in the country have it, too: Jasmine Maierhofer, Ana Sideco, Pauline Prieto, as well as model du jour, Manuela Basilio. In the words of Pauline, it's an epidemic!!! I kid. My uncle, an opthalmologist, says it's just really rampant this season in general, not just in the fashion industry.

Speaking of red eyes (maka segue lang! haha), my hair has been red for the past two months! As evidenced by the October issue of Stache Magazine! Please do download the lates issue, with my face on the cover lol. The magazine is made by a bunch of sweet and talented students! Be sure to check-out the 14-page feature they gave me. I SUPER love what these kids did! Thank you so much to the Stache Team! You guys are amazing!

Venice is just so beautiful. No other word to describe it.

I love the colors

I love how there's so many cute little stores selling things ranging from vintage to strange.

I love how couples just seem so much sweeter in Venice

We wandered around and found a church having a flea market thing, and apparently they have a mission in the Philippines!

So may things, too bad they were already closing when we got there.

Still, one of my cousins got a beautiful vintage brown suitcase, another got a couple of vintage frames, and another got a box of pokemon cards. LOL

And the sun has set.

Too bad we only had a day and a quarter to explore. I will be back for sure.

Istanbul

I'm back! Official statement after the Venice post :)

I didn't get to take many photos in Istanbul, we had such a short amount of time (a few hours) to explore and our "tour guide" only took us to the supposed place where the Virgin Mary was born, and then took us to these creepy leather factories where they had a room with a runway where they do their "fashion shows". I swear I thought we were going to be abducted. Although I did get to buy a lot of stuff around the market near the port! Lots of great finds!

Ok, so my 3-week vacation is OVER! Boo! It was tiring, but fun! The WHOLE family came. All 25 of us. Yes, TWENTY FIVE! LOL. We stayed in Rome for a few days, before heading out to a cruise which went to Naples, Athens (Greece), Jerusalem, Bethlehem (Israel), Rhodes (Greece), Turkey, Crete (Grece) and ended back in Rome. After that we went to Venice, a failed daytrip to Milan, and then Berlin. Whewww!

Below are random photoss that I like: of useless things, textures, lines, and sometimes me and some of my relatives (I don't think they'd be too happy being in this blog lol). I'll save all the tourista photos for my relatives on facbeook ;p

2011 Ford Supermodel of the World - Philippines

Wow, wasn't it only 6 months ago when Danica won the SMOW Philippine nationals and just 4 months ago when she won the international title?! Yup, the hey moved up the Ford Supermodel of the World nationals to May, rather than November, perhaps in order to have more time to train the winning candidate for the international competition. Good move!

Anyway, superstylist Patrick Galang and I teamed up (yet again), this time shooting the candidates for this year's national finals. We wanted something different from the usual shoots they do for the competition, so we did this water shoot, and we really love how it turned out! (Click to enlarge)

The competition was held May 14, I was boarding a plane to Berlin a few minutes before the competition started. I couldn't stop checking twitter (at the expense of high data roaming rates [€10 per 1MB!]) to see if my top favorite Manuela made it. When I landed, I found out she made it to the top 3! Samantha, another favorite, won the competition. Congratulations to all the girls!

I KNOW, here I go again: It's been AGES since I last posted. Seven-day work-weeks have been getting more and more frequent, I don't even have time to do other things except shoot and edit!

So much has happened since the last time I posted, and one major news item is that our sweet Danica WON Ford Supermodel of the World! The Philippine media has since gone crazy (which resulted in my photos of Danica landing the front pages of two of the top newspapers in one day, thanks gurl! lol), and she's already made rounds at the recent New York Fashion Week. I'm so proud of you!!!

Anyway, about a month ago (define backlogged haha) Danica sent this a photo via facebook:

They used the photo from our last test shoot together as the main photo on her compcard in New York!

I wish you all the best in NYC! See you there in August!!! Can't wait to see your book!

This is Danica Magpantay, 17, this year's Philippine representative to the Ford Supermodel of the World competition.

When I first met Danica it was her first ever shoot, a test shoot that her mom (top make-up artist and former Supermodel of the World Philippines) Lala Flores had arranged, as a sort of "training", for her two daughters who were set to compete for the same title that she had won back in 1990. Lala kept begging me to "be kind" to her daughters since it was their first shoot. So I was surprised to see Danica working it on set. She was one of those, a natural. One week later, Danica won the competition. Mother-Daughter Supermodel of the Worlds lol.

Fast forward two months later, a week before she leaves for New York — I've since shot two editorials with her, one of which is out in Preview Magazine this month, which also happens to be her first editorial! — I get a call from stylist Patrick Galang, telling me that Danica's portfolio was too "made up" and that we must shoot more "natural" looking photos. Naturally (lol), I said yes! We were planning to do just a few simple headshots, but good thing my loot from the Alexander Wang online store just came in, just basic, easy pieces, which were perfect for the shoot. One of the few instances where my online shopping addiction was put to good use. LOL.

WOW, 2010 flew by so quickly! I can't believe this blog is a year old already! My first blog post included this photo of bones, back when he was soooo tiny:

He was a month old!

Only a year (he's one year, and a month old now!) and he's gotten sooo big!

Ok, he hates the hat! This is the only photo with the hat on, and it was so hard to put it on his head!

So we tied it to his collar, didn't look right.

Finally! After Eight months and Six days!(this was shot April 24, 2010!) The Spring/Summer 2011 Lookbook AND Video of the now-New York-based designer Ciege Cagalawan's Spring/Summer 2011 lookbook and video! We shot this a few days before Ciege left for New York. Now he's an accessories designer for Shashi, a brand that's part of CFDA Fashion Incubator.

For this project we collaborated with very talented individuals: my good friend Mark Lim, who did the the video; and Edrick Bruel of TheHappyLab for the layout of the lookbook; and of course, Marita!

Finally! After 8 full months (this was shot April 24, 2010!) we're about to release the now-New York-based designer Ciege Cagalawan's Spring/Summer 2011 lookbook and video! We shot this a few days before Ciege left for New York. Now he's an accessories designer for Shashi, a brand that's part of CFDA Fashion Incubator.

Metro Society November 2010 ("Modern Muses" Cover + "The Big Chill" Fashion Editorial)

This was shot in Malaysia using Louis Vuitton's Fall 2010 collection. Glamorous? Not quite! The make-up artist (who also had to do the hair for this trip) used the thong found in the ice bucket of the hotel room to make the base of the ponytail stand up!

As promised on the previous post (although super late), here's our contribution to the VISIONS 2010 Beauty and Style Exhibit featuring METRO Magazine's Fashion Editor Mela De Luna! This was the first time me and stylist Patrick Galang worked together. We, along with Jake Galvez (Make-up) and Buern Rodriguez (Hair)-- they were also the producers of the Exhibit-- transformed Mela into these two totally opposite looks.

Funny how we never did met for pre-prod before the shoot, but all had one vision in mind: we wanted Mela nude. So we played with that simple idea. And I absolutely LOVE how it came out! Also, our team won the 1st prize that night, yay! Thanks to all those who voted!

I also did a video portrait featuring the original multi-hyphenate Tim Yap in different looks styled by the amazing Rcxy Bautista, which was looped on a flatscreen during the exhibit. First time working with video, I rented a D90, then downloaded Adobe Premier after the shoot. I almost cried while editing this. It was that hard!!! Haha!

Oh wow I can't believe it's been exactly a month since we did the first streaming of Fashion Photography Live and the last time i blogged! Although the live stream was a hot mess (proof that I can't host at all, moreso control the stream at the same time), it was still a success in that so many people tuned in and participated! At least now we know how to do the next one! We had viewers all the way from Korea to Sweden! Special thanks to Charina De Villa for translating our Filipino conversations :)

Stylist Patrick Galang transformed Samantha from her usual long-haired-fresh-faced look to something right out of the Fifth Element. It's only my second time working with him (the first one was shooting Metro Fashion Editor Mela de Luna for the VISIONS Exhibit, will post that tomorrow!) and I can really say that he is one of the best new stylists around.

High Roller (PREVIEW Magazine September 2010)

I was waiting for behind the scenes photos from my friend Judd (one of the production designers) but sadly he lost the files :(

Anyway, this editorial was very challenging. First, it's for Preview's September issue (pressure!) and, we wanted to do something of the same quality as our last editorial (Apocalypto); Second, it was the first time I was shooting for Preview without Creative Director/Genius Vince Uy's expert help on-set cause he was in London (believe me when I say that shoots are MUCH, MUCH easier with him); And lastly, we shot in the Resorts World Casino's Training Room and not the actual Casino. Meaning, we had a space that looked like every other boring office space you could think of. So I had to bring yards and yards of curtains from my studio (coincidentally I had brocade curtains so they're perfect for this Royalty-themed shoot, Thanks Cheska!) to conceal the office-y walls, and use my background stands to hold those curtains.

Thankfully it turned out nice and by the end of the day, we were really happy with it!!!

Seeing my name alongside Mark Nicdao, one of my photography heroes, was unbelievable! I cant bilibit!

One of the photos I took for the cover story. Trivia: The cover and cover story took 3 days to complete! We started shooting May 20.

I saw it in Cheska's iPad a few days ago and it's amazing! Lots of great features. I also found out it's actually the first of it's kind here in the country :)

This was shot for Preview's 15h Anniversary Issue (I'm majorly backlogged, I'm still blogging about June work haha!), which I was super happy and thankful to be a part of! More drama later. lol.

Anyway, it was my first time working with then relatively new model, Pauline. She instantly became a favorite. She's a natural. For real. And I've even used that word to describe anyone before. She just has FASHION written all over her.

Definitely one of my favorite editorials so far.

Wow, it's only been 5 years since I bought my first issue of Preview, which was their 10th Anniversay Spectacular (I still have the copy with me, complete with the Swarovski crystals on the cover!). It was the thickest local magazine i've held back then. all 10 cover stars had their own full-blown editorial inside the magazine. Back then it was the most fantastic thing I've ever seen on this little side of the world. A lot can happen in 5 years pala. Now, I'm actually shooting for them. Grabe. Thank you.

I was at a shoot the other day and while I was waiting for the make-up/hair to finish, I saw an issue of British Vogue (May 2009) on the table. I flipped through it and found an interesting feature called "My Inspiration" wherein several personalities from the fashion industry such as Grace Coddington, Paolo Roversi, Sophia Kokosalaki, Alexander Wang, among others, talk about photos that inspired them. I thought I'd share mine, but before I do, here are a few images from the article, which are posted on the Vogue UK website:

Inspiration: Nena von Schlebrügge by Claude Virgin, 1959

"I remember flicking back through Vogue and seeing the Vogue Model contest and thinking, ‘This is the most beautiful woman I have ever seen.’ I found out later it was Uma Thurman’s mother, Nena von Schleebrügge. It was that image that propelled me to enter the contest myself. I ended up winning. So it was through that picture that I started out as a model, and began my career in fashion.The picture by Vernier of me fishing [link] was my first shoot."

“When I first saw this, I thought, ‘I’m so going to London. Bye Greece!’ I still have the copy of Vogue in which the fashion story ran in my house in Athens. I just hadn’t seen this kind of editorial in Greek magazines, nor these kinds of clothes – it was a fantastical set of pictures. I think it was a quality of the lighting, a combination of the hair, the make-up, the styling and the environment that meant it was totally different to anything I’d seen before. I like dark, damaged romance; I’m not into pretty-pretty things, or pictures that draw too heavily on romance or history. But that shoot signified to me that fashion can make you dream; it can take you somewhere else. I liked the use of distressed materials, and in my first shows, I had a lot of tattered, destroyed and ripped tulle and organza. It wasn’t the same look as the shoot, but there was a similar feeling. Is the picture still as fantastic as it is in my imagination? I hope so.”

“There were so many Vogue sittings that fired my adolescent dreams of fashion. They evoked a world of impossible glamour, and of lives gloriously and richly led, peopled by magically dressed and impossibly beautiful women and dashing men. I ached to be a part of that world. There were some ravishing Barry Lategan portfolios that Grace Coddington produced, in particular one of lace and chiffon Bill Gibb dresses shot against an old-fashioned photographer’s portrait-studio backdrop of painted palms. It evoked the atmosphere of a New Orleans bordello. I chose to write about that sitting when I entered Vogue’s talent contest, aged 14 (I received a special mention). I cringe to think of that now, but I suppose that set me on the path.”

These are just a few, the Vogue UK website has 10, but there are so much more in the magazine. Anyway, I thought I'd share mine. I'll save my favorite Penn and Roversi photos for later, for now I'll share something a bit more personal:

These photos of my grandmother. I found these when I was about 10 years, I was in 5th grade, in an antique fold-out desk. I remember thinking they're the best photos of my Wowa I've ever seen. She looked so beautiful, and that I really loved her dress. I wondered why they weren't framed. I showed my grandma, and asked her if she was used to be an actress or a model. She said no she wasn't, and asked where I found those photos. She said she hates these photos, that's why they werre kept away. I thought that was stupid, cause these are gorgeous!

Years later, I was about 18, I ran out of birthday gift ideas, so I thought I'd make a pop art version of a photo of her (back then I was addicted to Andy Warhol), and suddenly remembered where these were kept. They were still there! I chose the one on the upper right. I didn't care if she didn't like the photos. She still hated the photos, but she was really happy with my gift.

These photos pop up in my mind every now and then. It's one of the first photos that I remember really really loving. It's a portrait, but upon rereading two paragraphs above it could very well be my first recollection of a fashion photograph.

Atom Araullo (ROGUE Magazine June 2010)

The moment I found out I was going to shoot for Rogue, I went nuts! I've been big fan of Rogue since the time I got my first issue, which was the Jasmine Maierhofer cover (December 2006/January 2007). Basta, I was suuuper excited!

Without further ado, here's the first assignment I shot for them, featuring journalist Atom Araullo. It's part feature, part fashion editorial. It's the first of that sort that I've done!

TRIVIA: (1) the instamatic Minolta camera (left) is mine, I got it from the Anonas ukay ukay, a about 3 years ago. (2) the vintage bicycle (right) is owned by fashion designer Ziggy Savella! It's the same one used in Garage Magazine's June/July 2010 Cover :)

Cutting up JUNE [2010 Issues]

June 2010 was such a good month for me. It was the first time I had 9 fashion editorials published, all at the same time, and I'm super super thankful to everyone who made it happen! I promise to upload these editorials in the following weeks. I really need to get a good scanner.

Anyway, these photos were taken last June (whoa, it's been 2 months! super late post! haha!), when I was cutting up the pages for my book.

Materials: Ruler, Cutter, Chopping board (in this case, Metro), and steady hands :)

Anne Curtis, I'm so sorry I had to use your face as a cutting board.

I hafto say, dismembering Preview's GLORIOUS June [15th Anniversary] issue was pretty hard, even though I know I have 7 other copies of it. Haha!

My first ever fashion editorial for one of my favorite fashion magazines, Preview! I still remember how excited I was when they asked me to do an editorial for them, and how the night before the shoot I couldn't sleep cause I was so excited, and how despite the long day I was still all smiles throughout.

These are a bit low res cos I just scanned them but anyway, here they are: A little bit of Amy, a little bit hillbilly, and a whole lot of denim...

I was at the Preview office last week cause of a shoot, and Vince showed me the proofs of our next editorial, which is coming out next month as part of their Anniversary issue! I want to show you guys but sadly I can't just yet. I can't wait till June!

Cruise Control (Metro Society April 2010)

Here's one of the four editorials I did in Ilocos with Louis Vuitton's Resort 2010 collection.

It was extremely hot and windy, three hours of shooting felt like eight! It was so windy during the first few layouts that the models couldn't even stand for more than a few seconds without falling.

Nevertheless, I was really happy with the results :) I hafto say, dirtying up designer goods was priceless!

Wallet Diet

I was in the car waiting for a friend who was taking forever, and I thought I'd do something with the free time (which has been scarce as of late) and decided to clean up my exploding wallet. Exploding not cause of money, but cause of all the crap that's been there since... I don't even know. But the past few days I haven't been able to put it in my pcoket, I always leave it in my bag. It can't even be folded flat!

Anyway, take a look at all the shit that's inside:

SERIOUSLY. Some reciepts are already unreadable, just all black.

I also found around 10 business cards (not pictured) from all over the world, and...

SIX Metro Cards! One isn't shown, it's stuck behind the plastic part of the wallet. LOL

And my school IDs from last summer...

Check out the ICP ID, some ink from the reciepts have been printed on the ID! Oh, don't forget my fug face on the Parsons ID. Long story!

Now it can be folded flat...

Ahhh... The memories. Now back to work.

Last week I had a look book shoot over at the Lahar covered area in Pampanga.

I thought of wearing boots since the last time I shot in a "desert" (Ilocos Sand Dunes, lol) I was wearing slippers and every time I took a step, my feet would sink in the sand I felt like my feet were being deep fried. Little did I know we'd be walking through water. This is what happened:

The boots are fine now. Back in all its distressed glory.

Memoirs of a Geisha (Velvet Tribute to the Oscars Photo Exhibit 2010)

This was our entry for the Velvet Tribute to the Oscars Photo Exhibit, which is now on it's 2nd year. I was surprised when they asked me to join this year, thanks Velvet!

Memoirs of a Geisha

The inspiration is a simple, classic portrait that would showcase the characters and their emotions. Even with the post I only used techniques that could be done back in the day, such as brightness/contrast, dodge and burn, except for airbrushing lol. I didn't even touch Kim's face. She's just naturally beautiful!

However, I think people at Velvet were not pleased with the outcome as they were expecting something more extravagant. A few days after I submitted the photos, they told me that if I wanted to add something more to the photo, I can still do and submit a photo of with the changes. Of course, I said "No, that's the final photo :)" I completely understand where they're coming from, though.

As expected we didn't win any awards during the launch party at Ayala Museum. But the best part of the night happened just as I was about to leave. Bianca (she styled the Phantom of the Opera entry) told me that Mark Nicdao told her that Memoirs was his favorite entry. I was like, NO WAY! She was like, YES WAY! And then she introduced me to Mark. I couldn't believe it. Mark Nicdao! He's one of my idols! With that, I went home feeling like I won something :)

All the entries are available for the viewing public from March 5 to 12 at Greenbelt 3 and from March 13 to 20 at Eastwood Mall.

Speaking of Alice: Last week, right before the Velvet Tribute to the Oscars Exhibit Launch (I'll blog about that later) we went to the Philippine premiere of the movie in Shangri-La. Ziggy and I dressed as Tweedledee and Tweedledum (with blazers lol)

We got our striped tees right at the Surplus Shop for Php160 just before we went to the venue and Ziggy just happened to have the shorts in his car! The only element missing were the suspenders... They were too expensive at SM lol.

OT: It's been a while! So many photos I hafto post here! I can't believe I've been getting so much work lately! It's almost hard to finish setting-up the studio with all the shoots, but I LOVE EVERY MINTUE OF IT. I'm so thankful for everything!

...and got back. Shout out to the ferocious (lol) Ivy! It was great seeing you again! I missed you so much! I hope you had a great time in Manila!

Earlier today I was making a pdf version of my portfolio when I found these photos of Divina from a few months ago in New York. I've never gotten around to posting these on my website, so here they are now :)

This shoot was not planned at all. My friend Ana (Sideco, a filipina model who was on vacation in NYC) called me up on a lazy Tuesday afternoon, a day before agency open calls in the city. She told me her cousin, Divina, needed some photos to present to agencies the next day.

Literally a few minutes later they were in my room. Divina hadn't brought anything with her, no make-up, no clothes. I dressed her up in clothes I had bought as presents for friends when I go back to Manila, and some clothes friends of mine had sent in for some editorials I was shooting for magazines.

I shot, laid out the "card", and printed her photos (in school, thank god for free printing at Parsons!) in less than 5 hours. It was fun.

This was her very first shoot. No make-up, just eyeliner and lipgloss. She's great. A natural in front of the camera. The next day she, along with Ana, were signed by Major Model Management :)

Cramming, My First Mens Editorial

It's 4:30AM, I just finished doing post on my first mens editorial (heck, it's my first mens shoot!), which also happens to be my last shoot for 2009--shot 2 days before Christmas in a farm in Bustos, Bulacan. Deadline's later. Haha!

Over A Year In The Making

One of the things I'm excited about for this year is my first studio! It's just an old house with the interiors converted into a studio but whatever lol.

It's been a year since it started construction. My dad wanted to manage the construction so — although everyone told me it's going to take forever if my dad does it — I let him do it cause he's really into those kinds of things. But a year has passed and nothing was happening. After a lot of misunderstandings about the design, among other things, around a month ago he decided to turn things over to me :) A legit (lol) contractor has been hired and I'm happy to announce that we'll be opening sometime in March!

Anyway, here's a sneak peek at the floorplan:

The interiors are designed by Cheska Nolasco, a very talented interior decorator who I met during my stay in New York.
